Pray for Nigeria
In April 2014, over 200 girls were kidnapped from their school in Chibok, Nigeria. They were taken by Boko Haram, an Islamic sect in northern Nigeria violently seeking a ‘pure’ Islamic state.
Most of those girls were Christians, and most of them were from our church, the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria: Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa a Nigeria, or EYN for short.
In one sense, it doesn’t matter if these girls were from our church or not. What is happening to them is still evil. But in another sense, their kidnapping hits home for us. They are our sisters.
Right now there are three things we can do:
- Pray for Mwa Malam. That is the real name of one of the girls who has been taken, and Circle of Peace is praying for her specifically.
- Share this on Facebook and other social media. Facebook users should feel free to use this picture for their “Cover Photo.” (The church office can get you a higher resolution image if you need, just email frontdesk@circleofpeacechurch.com)
- Keep in touch. We are monitoring this situation and will bring other engagement opportunities to you as we know about them.
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free,to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
– Jesus, in Luke 4:18-19
