Church Outdoors: What To Expect

Church Outdoors: What To Expect

WHAT IS CHURCH OUTDOORS?

Church Outdoors is the best way we know how to faithfully, joyfully, and safely gather for worship.  We have a sweet little building, but it’s not very big, and it makes COVID-19 precautions hard.  So we’re taking it outside!  The band will play and the pastor will preach right at the front door.  It’ll be informal and meaningful and fun, like a camp meeting or outdoor festival.  Dress for the weather and bring something to drink!

LOCATION

Our building is located in Peoria, on West Deer Valley Road, across from Ray’s Pizza, Kawaii Sushi and Fry’s, beside Culver’s and Brakes Plus.

SERVICES

We have one Sunday service at 10:00 a.m., and will last about an hour.

PARKING

We have parking in the front lot (facing West Deer Valley) but we also have extra parking in the side lot and back lot (behind the building). Handicapped spaces available in both lots.

WHERE DO WE SIT?

We will sit right at the front of the church building.  Circle will provide clean foldable plastic chairs, but if you have a comfy camp chair you should totally bring it!  We can set up chairs on the large concrete pad, on the sidewalks, under the awnings, or on the lower grassy areas.  We suggest you bring a blanket if you want to sit on the grass.

WHAT ABOUT SHADE?

We’ll have 10-12 shade structures set up and ready to go.  But if you have a pop up or other shade structure you should totally bring that too!

RESTROOMS?

We have them indoors and we’ll show you where they are.

WHAT KIND OF HEALTH PRECAUTIONS ARE YOU TAKING?

We are taking the CDC guidelines very seriously.  We do this because want to honor others above ourselves (Romans 12:10) and love our neighbor as ourselves (Mark 12:31).  We also know and love people who have been directly impacted by COVID-19.

We’ll prop doors open and clean surfaces for sure.  But our main goal is to practice at least 2 out of 3 of these precautions at all times:

  1. Being outside
  2. Being masked
  3. Being physically distanced

Again, the goal is at least 2 out of 3.  Are you outside and distanced?  Mask is optional.  Are you going inside to use the restroom?  Please mask.

WHAT ABOUT KIDS?

We are an all-ages church with plenty of families.  Kids are welcome to sit with their parents throughout the service, and we’ll have some activities to share.  We’ll also have the option for kids to check into safe, fun, age-appropriate outdoor classes for at least half the service.
